AGS Polarization Maintenance Tips 3/12/10
Typically, if polarization is hovering around 55% or below, it is likely one or all of the following four things go wrong(they are ordered in their probabilities from high to low):
1. The vertical sine 9th harmonics amplitude at 580ms not on the positive side. It should be around 2-4mm, but can be higher if it does not cause beam loss.
2. Vertical tune is not in the right range at 263ms. It should be about 8.98. As a trade off for intensity, the tune here can be lowered in step of 0.0005.
3. Vertical tune is not high enough at 580ms. It should be higher than 8.99.
4. The vertical sine 9th harmonics amplitude around 250-290ms not on the positive side. It should be around 1-4mm.
