AGS Ramp Polarization Measurement Recipe

Description:

 

 This recipe describes how to take the polarization ramp measurement on the Siemens cycle at user4 or user2.

 

Process:

 

0. use run button on the polaCotrol app. It's ok if polarization is zero or crazy numbers. The online analysis won't work properly for ramp measurement.
1. On pet page pet/AGS/Polarized_protons/PolarControlDefaults/Summary, make sure "Mux Ch. to" is set to 4 for all users.
2. Open a xterm. type
ssh cnipol3 -l mcr
cd ado
cp new_set.ini.ramp new_set.ini (and confirm overwrite by answering y when prompted)

3. On pet page pet/AGS/Polarized_protons/CNI_Target, change the insertion and extraction of target timing on pet/AGS/Polarized_protons/CNI_target. Near the bottom, change the insertion "Delay from source" from 500000 to 3200000 (note how many zeroes!); change the extraction "Delay from source: from 2820000 to 750000. Make sure you are on user4, as the settings are ppm sensitive.
4. take a target scan to find target center. Use value 102000 as Center Position on the target scan page for vertical target3, use value 190000 as Center Position on the target scan page for vertical target2.
5 Change Num Events to 70 millions.
6.take fixed target measurement. Do target scan after two measurements.
7. after the needed measurements done, reverse steps 2 to 3. namely:
change the insertion and extraction of target timing on pet/AGS/Polarized_protons/CNI_target. Near the bottom, change the insertion "Delay from source" from 3200000 to 500000; change the extraction "Delay from source: from 750000 to 2820000.
8. Open a xterm. type
ssh cnipol3 -l mcr
cd ado
cp new_set.ini.flattop new_set.ini

9. change Num Events to 40 millions
